Fourth meeting SSPressing Project (Alcalá 2018)

The fourth meeting of the SSPressing Project was held last 8th and 9th of February at the Universidad de Alcalá.

The first day began with a general introduction to the current status of the project by Maria de Diego (UPV). Afterwards, each of the participant groups presented an overview of activities undertaken since the last Project meeting to that time.

In addition to the presentation of the progress reports, six technical talks were also programmed, which enabled the participants to share research experiences reached during the development of the project. The talks covered the following topics:

• Sistema de Enmascaramiento de Ruido Acústico presented by Juan Estreder from the Universitat Politècnica de València.
•Localización Acústica en Redes de Sensores Inalámbricos presented by Roberto Gil from the Universidad de Alcalá.
•Separación de Audio Cardiopulmonar presented by Francisco J. Cañadas from the Universidad de Jaén.
• Análisis Musical Basado en Tempo presented by Pedro Vera from the Universidad de Jaén.
•Una pequeña introducción práctica a la Comunicación Cuántica by Elias Fernández–Combarro from the Universidad de Oviedo.
•Diseño e implantación de un Audio Portal Cautivo de Acceso a Internet mediante WiFi presented by Álvaro Suarez from the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Third meeting SSPressing Proyect (Gijón 2017)

On June 26 and 27, 2017 the SSPressing Project Partners met in the facilities of the Universidad Laboral de Gijón for the third working meeting.

The meeting was attended by representatives of each of the universities linked to the project: University of Jaén, University of Oviedo, University of Alcalá, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Universitat Politècnica de València.

During the course of the meeting, each of the participating groups presented a progress report and the results achieved to date.

• Virtual Sound Subproject (SSPressing-Vound) by Marìa de Diego from the Universitat Politècnica de València.
• Interactive Music Subproject (SSPressing-Intim) presented by Pedro Vera of the University of Jaén.
• Cognitive Listening Subproject presented by Roberto Gil of the University of Alcalá and Alvaro Suárez of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
• Smart COmpuTing Subproject (SSPressing-Scot) presented by José Ranilla from the University of Oviedo.

The presentation of the progress reports was alternated with technical talks, which allowed the participants to share the knowledge and advance achieved during the development of the project.

In this edition, the following technical talks were developed:

“ Optimization algorithms for the creation of personal audio areas”. Gema Piñero (UPV)

“ Machine Learning and Neural Networks”. Luciano Sánchez (University of Oviedo)

Second meeting SSPressing Project (Valencia 2017)

The second working meeting of the SMART SOUND PROCESSING FOR DIGITAL LIVING-SSPRESING project was held last 2nd and 3rd February 2017 at the Universitat Politècnica de València.

The meeting began with a general presentation of the economic and project management data by Alberto González (UPV). Later, each of the participating groups presented the results obtained so far and the following technical talks were held.

“Sound source separation for orchestras”. Pedro Vera/Antonio J. Muñoz (Universidad de Jaén)
“Las GPUs en el proyecto SSPressing”. Pedro Alonso (UPV)/José Ranilla (Universidad de Oviedo)
“Deep Computing”. José Ranilla (Universidad de Oviedo)

At the end of the first day, in the facilities of the laboratories of the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (ITEAM-UPV), were presented the demos of the following developments:

• Personal system of active control of sound
• Network of distributed acoustic sensors.
